2004 Challenge For Port

The Mighty Port Kembla Blacks will kick off their 2004 campaign in the Country Rugby League Challenge Cup in February of 2004. The draft draw released by the Country Rugby League yesterday sees The Blacks up against Dubbo CYMS away from home in Round 1.

The CRL have had a good response to the 2004 Challenge Cup with over 32 teams entering by the cut off date. Port won't have an easy time of it with entries received from 2003 Challenge Cup and Illawarra Tooheys League champions Thirroul, Illawarra Runners-Up Dapto, Semi Final Opponents Wollongong Bulls, and strong teams from the likes of Queanbeyan, West Belconnen, Wagga and Port Macquarie.

The Country Challenge Cup offers First Grade teams the opportunity to tune their skills for their respective 2004 competitions against clubs from outside of their own league, guaranteeing each club a minimum of two games in the competition. The full First Round Draw (Draft) follows:
